I'm going to go with the lateness of the hour as my excuse for posting this
Ok, so, sometimes vid ideas are complex and other times vid ideas are very simple and straightforward but persistently knocking at your mental door until you let them in and give them some food so they'll go away. That's what happened here. This was done in two evenings and is unbeta'd and I normally wouldn't share it but it's not irredeemably awful so I figured what the heck. Although it's not that great, which is why this is friendslocked. It's still not that great but I accidentally posted publically so I'll leave it. I need to go to bed.

Valencia (32 MB, DivX file)
Due South, "Juliet is Bleeding" episodic vid. Ray! Irene! Angst! My first semi-published Due South vid, and it's het. Typical.

If you don't have QuickTime, you can (and should!) download VLC Player, which is free and works with multiple formats, including QT.

In case you're interested, here are the lyrics:

You belong to the gang
and you say you can't break away
but I'm here with my hands
on my heart

And our families can't agree
I'm your brother's sworn enemy
but I shout out my love
to the stars

So wait for the stone
on your window, your window
Wait by the car
and we'll go, we'll go

All I heard was the shout
of your brother calling me out
and you ran, like a fool,
to my side

Well the shot, it hit hard
and your frame went limp in my arms
and an oath of love
was your dying cry

So wait for the stone
on your window, your window
Wait by the car
and we'll go, we'll go

O, Valencia,
with your blood getting cold on the ground
Valencia
and I swear to the stars
I will burn this whole city down

Now I can go back to working on actual projects. Heh.

Ack, I'm so failing at my DS watching that I don't know happens to her! And I'm all frantic now! THANKS A LOT!

Heh. But I have the DVDs thanks to a wonderful and apparently insanely patient Pips, so I can probably fix that. Either way this was both sweet and poignant. And it was obviously made with lots of love for Ray. And that very clear love makes this a very enjoyable watch. :)

I don't know happens to her!

IT IS NOT GOOD.

Aw, you have DVDs now! That's nice of Pips. Thanks for watching this though! My love for Ray is a little overpowering in this fandom still. Hee.

Oh that was a very cool video. YAY Carrie-Anne! :D

Do you have the episode? And if so, can I please please have it? *bats eyelashes*

Also, do you mind if I post a link to the video on my forum? I can upload it elsewhere (like sendspace) if you want.
The sanest lunatic you've ever met: by sdwolfpup: a simple pleasure[info]sdwolfpup on October 18th, 2006 01:48 pm (UTC)
Carrie-Anne is excellent in this episode. And so pretty. I do have it, and give me a day or so.

And, uh, as long as they don't expect much out of the video, you can post a link to this post. Heh. Thanks!

I was just watchung JIB last night. Oh poor Ray.

I actually liked this the song really did seem to fit with the whole Ray/Irene situation. And it did make me want to hug Ray.

You posted a DS vid! And it's het! (But it's RayV, so, you know, not *completely* out of character for you. *g*) And yeah, those lyrics are pretty much made for "Juliet is Bleeding"; I can see why this one bugged you until you made it.

I especially liked the choice to split the story up, time-wise, rather than just doing straightforward chronology. Oh, and the punch on "our families can't agree." Heh.

Looking forward to seeing what else you do with the show...

*snicker* I know, right? The vid-apple doesn't fall far from the vidder-tree. It's one of those vids where, because you can kick it out in a few intense sessions, you do.

Thank you! :)

What h.l. said. How could you not, with lyrics like those? But you managed to make it not just about the literal lyric-matching, which is great.

Can't wait to see more DS vids from you!

Aw, poor Ray! Nice job, hon. I never thought of dS while listening to this song, so good on you for hearing the possibilities.

That was really wonderful. JiB, and The Deal, are my two favourite episodes. (Sometimes I suspect I have a Vecchio bias or something.) I echo the comment that it really worked not being a chronological retelling. This was very well done. Yay!

I might have one of those, too. Just a little. Thanks for the comment!

*draws little hearts around Ray and Irene* They are so adorable together. It must be the Vecchio factor.

Thank you!

Wowie! You know, I didn't really like this episode, but I liked your vid, even though (maybe because!) it was JiB compressed - all the good stuff put together. The song is perfect for the episode.

It's interesting to me, actually, to see a vid that is more literally true to an episode rather than being constructed to tell another story. It's got a different relationship to canon than the other type of vid.

Now I want you to vid Vecchio/Suzanne Chapin!

The sanest lunatic you've ever met: by sdwolfpup: super mountie! (dS)[info]sdwolfpup on October 20th, 2006 05:43 pm (UTC)
Thank you for the comment! I'm glad that the vid wasn't just a boring retelling of the episode, which tends to be the biggest problem with episodic vids, IMO.

Now I want you to vid Vecchio/Suzanne Chapin!

I do too! When the right song eventually finds me, don't think I won't. Heh.

Very nice! I never heard the song before, either. One of my favourite eps, so it's nice to see a vid for it.

Oh, Ray.
