Lyrics
Shining like a work of art
Hanging on a wall of stars
Are you what I think you are?

Elevator to the moon
Whistling our favorite tune
Trying to get a closer view

You're my satellite
You're riding with me tonight
Passenger side, lighting the sky
Always the first star that I find
You're my satellite

Maybe you will always be
Just a little out of reach

You're my satellite
You're riding with me tonight
Passenger side, lighting the sky
Always the first star that I find
You're my satellite

Thank you to [info]mlyn and [info]pipsqueaky for looking it over for beta, and giving excellent, excellent suggestions and advice. It's a much better, clearer vid because of you both, and I'm grateful. Thanks to just_eunice, [info]renenet, and [info]brynnmck for positive reinforcement in my dark hours. :) Also, I know my summary isn't grammatically correct, but I took poetic license. I was wrong, my grammar is ok. Excellent.

All feedback, comments, or concrit are welcome, either here or through email (sdwolfpup (at) gmail (dot) com).

Ooh! I really like this! I like the way you used successive clips of them in the same relative position, and I like the car-slide-chase thingy. It's also a really nice song (never heard it before, but it's pleasant) which always helps.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked what I have affectionately termed the "car porn" section.

Awww, that was really lovely but sad. I haven't seen most of the RayV seasons, so I didn't have context for most of the clips, but the meaning of the vid and the story shone through anyway. And I loved the way you used the car, especially at the bridge and at the very end. Woobies!

I'm glad that the overall sense of it came through even without a lot of context. Thank you!

That's such a gorgeous vid! Very nicely put together and well timed. And there's just not enough Vecchio vids out there. Thank you for sharing ^_^

First, I curses you and my internet for the long download time.

Second, I hope that Burning Down the House scene wasn't what it meant in show. Cause that makes me sad. I want Ray going off with Fraser.

Anyways, none of these matter because this is a very nice vid. I love the song. I think your really encouraging me to get Guster's CD.

For the vid, I'm surprised there's so much of the VS arc and JIB. The real fandom heavy moments.

I love the use of the Riv. I love the Riv so naturally but you worked it in lovely. I adore from 1:43 to 2:01 with thme looking at each other in GoTW and then 1:51, the car chases and then Fraser getting out. Really liked that whole part. Something about the scene from 2:22 to 2:25 with Ray gets me too when combined with the music.

And the opening with 'Elavator to the moon'.

Yeah, my file sizes have been huge lately, I don't know what's up with that. Thanks for taking the time to download it!

And thank you so much for your detailed feedback, I appreciate it! It is a little sad at the end, but - hopefully! - also sweet, and they are riding off together. :)

I will def download after work! Yay.

What's wrong with your summary grammar? It's perfectly fine. (If it's ending a sentence with a preposition, that's one of those great peeve myths I've been trying to explode as often as possible.)
The sanest lunatic you've ever met: by sdwolfpup: days go by (DS)[info]sdwolfpup on December 4th, 2006 09:11 pm (UTC)
Oh! I thought that ending with a preposition was a Bad Grammatical Mistake. I shall edit appropriately! Thanks. :)

So, I watch this? And my heart is FULL. Full of joy and happiness and achiness and high-pitched squealy sounds and I LOVE THEM SO MUCH and I LOVE THIS SO MUCH and MY HEART IS FULL. I CANNOT STOP CAPSLOCKING. I LOVE the addition of the "Flashback" moment at about 2:58--I may have actually made an "EEE" noise out loud, right here at work--and Ray looking up at 3:07 and the Riv!porn and the GotW scene on "first star that I find" that's timed SO PERFECTLY all of the lovely orbiting motions you picked out and the ebb and flow and glee and hints of angst and EEEEEEEEEEEEEE. CANNOT DEAL. TOO MUCH LOVE.

Thank you so much for introducing me to these boys, and then making this gorgeous vid to celebrate them.

Fabulous editing, I really enjoyed it. I streamed it first because I wasn't sure if I'd like it after reading the lyrics and I have hardly any space left on my hard-drive, but after watching it I had to download.

Rolling to the Ocean[info]little_aphid on December 5th, 2006 02:39 am (UTC)
That is hands down the best purely F/V video I've ever seen. And by "best" I mean "only". But I expect that if I had seen more, it would still be the best.
It went wonderfully with the music, and it was so flow-y.

Specifically (because this gives me an excuse to watch it again):
(Which episode is the title shot from? I don't remember it at all.)
The similar shots for favourite tune worked nicely.
Ray's smile over Frasier's shoulder to the beat at 1:20.
Wonderful movement at the long "Yoooouuu'rrre myyyyy satellite". Especially the mirrored jumping. Very satisfying.
OMG slidey Riv is love.
Also the succession of walking away was lovely.
And the inter-cutting of The Phone call with clips of Ray and Frasier side by side was very emotional and great juxtaposition.
I'm wondering if you used the clip at 3:17 intentionally because of the couple with their arms around each other to the side. It worked for me, but I love little subtle things like that.
The last shot of driving in the Riv as it fades to black was eerie, and somewhat forboding. I don't know if you were going for that, but it was cool and went with the Burning Down the House clips.

*Goes to watch again*
Lastly - this song was amazing and I'm going right now to download. Thanks!
The sanest lunatic you've ever met: by sdwolfpup: where you go (dS)[info]sdwolfpup on December 5th, 2006 05:47 am (UTC)
What fantastic feedback, thank you so much!

The title shot/end shot is from "A Cop, A Mountie, and a Baby" when they're following Dief and Mark Ruffalo's character to the hotel. It's one of the first images I had when I got the vid idea, actually. The slidey Riv IS love. I love the Riv. Heh.

I'm wondering if you used the clip at 3:17 intentionally because of the couple with their arms around each other to the side.

I actually used that shot for them driving off together, both as a symbolic thing of them still together in the car, and also visually to bring us to the last shot, which is pulled out and so a little less personal. I didn't want to lose the personal connection. Nice notice of the couple, though!

I'm glad you liked the vid; thanks again!
Rolling to the Ocean[info]little_aphid on December 5th, 2006 11:31 pm (UTC)
Ah, so that's where it's from. Clearly, I need to watch season one again. :)

I got the actual meaning of the next-to-last clip, and it did work flow nicely into the last one. I quite like the couple though, as an added bonus.

(And yes, Fraser's hips are a little distracting, aren't they? *g*)

Loved all the shots of them together. The idea of a satillite, Fraser is Ray's isn't he? And Riv shots, yay! Lovely. Although I cried at the BDTH parts. I can't help it...but for me they do drive off in the Riv together so yay happy ending.

Will you think I'm a total sap if I tell you this vid made me cry? Because it did. When it got to "Burning Down the House," it totally did. Aww, Vecchio.

(As an aside, I watched it on imeem too, and it looked fabulous - that's the first vid I've watched on imeem, and I was really impressed by the video quality. Hmmm.)

I'm very pleased with imeem so far; we'll see how it pans out for a wider community, but the quality is fantastic.

Dualbunny: Genuine Fraser - xanphibian[info]dualbunny on December 9th, 2006 09:36 am (UTC)
I *love* how you open this up. That music playing behind the Riv on the freeway? *Perfect*. In fact that slightly dated edge to the song makes a wonderful match for the show, even with as little dipping into it as I've managed so far. ;)

And speaking of the car, like pretty much everyone else, I love how you used it. It adds a fantastic stylistic flourish to vid that's very focused on the buddy (or more? ;D) relationship. Like a unique little calling card for the vid.

Love "work of art"--gorgeous section. I also really like how they alternate from more sedate scenes (which are also wonderfully arranged with attention to their body position from what I see) to sections where they're really *moving* somewhere, whether away from each other or together. Great way to keep everything flowing and sustain the tension, and that wonderful pull the song spotlights, between them. It makes their connection feel so *substantial* and real to me.

And I am completely in love with the end. The headlights being visible alone for a moment is just so cool. :D

(And believe me, that headlights thing was a moment of sheer joy for me when I actually got it to look the way I saw it in my head. That happens so rarely. Heh.)

Oh, wow. This made my Vecchio fangirl heart so very happy. Must echo all the praise for the use of slidey!Riv and so much car porn, with the perfectly timed shot of Fraser closing the door to end it :) All the clip choices for the synthesizer scale runs were very well chosen - the sense of movement and flow and timing there is just wonderful.

The clips of Burning Down the House made me sad at first, then you made it all better by having them pull away in the Riv and drive off down the highway together. Beautiful.
