Lyrics
Dearly beloved
We are gathered here today
To get through this thing called LIFE.
Electric word "life"
It means forever and that's a mighty long time
But I'm here to tell you, there's something else
The afterworld.
A world of never-ending happiness
You can always see the sun, day or night.
So when you call up that shrink in Beverly Hills
You know the one, Dr. Everything'll-Be-Alright
Instead of asking him how much of your time is left
Ask him how much of your mind, baby
'Cause in this life
Things are much harder than in the afterworld
In this life, you're on your own
And if de-elevator tries to bring you down
Go crazy, punch a higher floor

If you don't like
The world you're living in
Take a look around you
At least you got friends
I called my old lady
For a friendly word
She just picked up the phone
Dropped it on the floor
"Aah, aah!" is all I heard

I'm not gonna let de-elevator bring us down, oh no, let's go
Let's go crazy, let's get nuts
Let's look for the purple banana
'Til they put us in the truck
Let's go

All excited, but don't know why
Maybe it's 'cause, we're all gonna die
And when we do (when we do)
What's it all for? (what's it all for)
Better live now
Before the grim reaper comes knocking on your door
Tell me,
Are we gonna let de-elevator bring us down?
Oh, no, let's go

Go Crazy
I said, let's go (crazy)

He's coming
He's coming
Coming

Take me away

Many thanks to [info]elynross and [info]pipsqueaky for excellent and timely beta. And extra-special thanks to [info]laurashapiro for coming up with this idea, thinking "I really need someone twisted to help me make this," and thinking of me. *sniff* It was a joyous collaboration and she took on all the hard tech parts so I didn't have to. Let's do it again sometime, ok? :) All feedback, comments, or concrit are welcome, either here or through email (sdwolfpup (at) gmail (dot) com).

A big YAY to this vid! What a great start to Club Vivid. It was so much fun dancing to this! And dude, those ejaculating rockets are genius ;-)

Thank you! Yay for ejaculating rockets? Hee.

I don't watch BSG because I'm still too close to the original one (I worked on the DVD set a couple years back) so I have trouble with the changes. Having said that, I think the guy who plays Baltar is frakkin' hot, and I love Prince. The video is fantabulous! Job well done, indeed. Thanks for sharing it.

Can't wait to meet you at D*C in a couple weeks...

Thanks for watching it - I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

I can't believe DC is in 10 DAYS. How did that happen?
daybreak777: Hee![info]daybreak777 on August 17th, 2007 03:43 pm (UTC)
I really like this video! Where to begin? I love the beginning, from opening on ‘life’ on New Caprica, to the Cylon base ship and world in Baltar’s head being ‘the afterworld’.

I also liked that it involved so many characters. On my very first watch, (I’ve watched it several times since then), I thought of how it might look to someone unfamiliar to BSG. It looks like they have an awful lot of sex! Hee, I wish. A lot of it is just Head!Six and Baltar. ;-) And he looks crazy, which fortunately, is true!

Oh, and at minute two, when Six and D’Anna are like Wendy and Lisa (Prince’s backup singers)? That was totally awesome. This one of the few videos to a song I knew well before seeing the vid. That also adds to the love.

Let me not forget the electric guitar of doom and the kiss. Or the simulator melting into an actual viper flipping (love moments that relate like that). Oh well, let me leave something for the other commenters. There will be many because you guys totally rock!
The sanest lunatic you've ever met: bsg: OMG YAY![info]sdwolfpup on August 21st, 2007 05:28 pm (UTC)
This is truly fantastic feedback - thank you so much!

It looks like they have an awful lot of sex!

Hee! Well they sort of do. At first. And I'm so glad you got the cylon backup singers. That was Laura's genius idea. *g*

Okay, first? Your icon and the vid tagline are among my favorite things EVER.

Also, this vid makes me giggle. I am hoping to rewatch and send more detailed notes at some point, but for right now I just want to say: YAY.
The sanest lunatic you've ever met: bsg: sparkle motion[info]sdwolfpup on August 21st, 2007 05:33 pm (UTC)
The tagline came out of the icon, which is by [info]nyuszi and which makes me grin every time.

I'm glad you liked the vid! Yay!

As you know, I don't really watch BSG, but "Gaius Baltar doubts your commitment to sparkle motion." is the most delightful vid tagline ever.

HEE. Credit ultimately goes to [info]nyuszi, who made the icon. *g*

I don't vid, so I'm sure there're lots of technical things that deserve to be lauded but which I totally didn't notice or understand as I watched. But I can say, from a simple-minded BSG fan's pov, that this was fantastically entertaining. So take that for what it's worth.
Nicole Anell: baltar/six[info]nicole_anell on August 19th, 2007 04:24 pm (UTC)
Psst! I made that Invisible Gaius icon. It made me really, really happy just now to see somebody still using it. :D

Well, I'm happy that you're happy. And now I'll go update the icon info to reflect who made it. (Sorry it didn't have it before... I snatched it from someone who must not have had it credited.)

Hey, that's worth a lot, don't sell your feedback short! The vid was made to entertain, so I consider it a success. Thank you!

This was wonderful! What a great idea--I love how it is by turns playful, menacing, and full of despair. Just like our dear Gaius himself.

On a personal note, it made me remember that BSG does indeed have many fine moments.

*goes off to rewatch*

AWSOME VID!
This is going to be one of my favorite BSG fanvids! You have a great selection of great scenes from the whole cast, beautifully composited to sync with the song and !BALTAR!-I loved the final scene with the Marines to "Take me AWAY!" Together you two divas are a creative force to be reckoned with. *tries to recover from fangirl squee* Uh.....yeah...it's alright.

Ya'll are crazy. And I mean that in the BEST possible way. And I was able to appreciate it even without having seen any of season 3.

I loved the hands at 0:21, Gaius's little eye-flick at Starbuck at 0:38, and then that nutsy Baltar just leads us into everybody else losing it. The sequence around 2:30 to, "He's coming" with Baltar's little solo-humping escapades made me laugh. And that big finish, with the many faces of Gaius Baltar and "Take me away!" -- hysterical.
The sanest lunatic you've ever met: bsg: sparkle motion[info]sdwolfpup on August 21st, 2007 06:35 pm (UTC)
Thanks, keerawa! I'm really glad you liked it. I'm ok with being the good kind of crazy. *g*
Nicole Anell: happysquee[info]nicole_anell on August 19th, 2007 04:22 pm (UTC)
I assumed it would just be a Baltar vid (not that there's anything wrong with that) but it's so much more, the use of the other characters echoing his shiny shiny Crazy was fabulous! Also, ZOMG HEADSLAM. Used very awesomely. Certain transitions just made me go wow, like the flash off the Centurions that becomes the nuke around 2:00 and the spinning pilot wheel to the spinning Vipers. I totally adore the speed and movement of this, and then my god! The ending! You guys rock.

I love the beginning of this vid with the intercutting shots of Baltar and all the rest of the crew. The sense of impending action works perfectly with everyone gathered and then shots of New Caprica for "life". I love how he's telling the new cylons of the world he's apart of, being stuck between cylons and human (even if he's not one). The doors opening with the music is just too perfect and I love how Baltar's happiness is a threesome (so him!) along with Six's smile for the sun. I LOVE Baltar as the "shrink in Beverly Hills" with Baltar pulling back the curtain and doing the crazy life. I love how the pacing goes more quickly with the music showing the toughness of their lives. Then I love the crazy Baltar expressions leading up to one of my favorite sequences with Baltar in his chair, putting his hand up with the music and then throwing it with the internal motion of the next spaceship shot matching so well.

I love the zoom ins of the ships at 1:10 and the explosions, tackle and knife going in the same direction. "Friends" as the cylons on New Caprica is hilarious and I love the effect pulling you out of it. The sex and violence in Six and Baltar's relationship is shown greatly and I love how you go into the violence of the other relationships as well. I really love the shots you choose for the first chorus especially Tigh and his wife shot which describes the let's go crazy impulse too well. The two shots at 1:38 are also particularly pretty in how they lead into each other. Motion works so well for showing crazy. I love the group shots of all excited for violence and "all going to die" for Baltar looking at the cylons and the beautiful transition into the window shot with the yellow light. I love the shooting shots and how the ship blowing up flows into each other. Happy Starbuck on "Let's go" is another one of my favorite shots
with it matching the tone and lyrics so well. That along with Kat going "crazy" is the perfect shot for illustrating that. I also love the spinning device going into the spinning ship. I love the brightening ship at 2:26 right with the music and zooming out and then in again is also too cool. Baltar having sex on "come" is hilarious. I love all the Baltar tied down clips you used.

I LOVE how you use all the spinny shots from the kissing shot to the clouds to the grass and tombstones to Baltar falling crazily. OMG SO COOL. And then it kind of goes back to the beginning and clips let you slow down and then get inside Baltar's crazy head with the cool zooms (especially at 3:11). And then my favorite part with Baltar's crazy faces where I can only list my favorites as being at 3:22, 3:23 and 3:25 (with Kara). I also love all the water shots and Baltar tied up again. Take it away with Baltar being removed is really the best ending. I love the editing and cutting throughout the vidding and how it went with the music. Great idea, I love it!

This is really fantastic feedback. Thank you! I'm also glad the craziness of everyone else came through as well as Baltar. Baltar may be the President of Crazy, but his citizens are pretty crazy, too.

And that last shot was all Laura. I loved it immediately when she showed it to me.

Man, they have a lot of sex in space. And a lot of psychotic episodes.

I think one could experience this vid on multiple registers: it's a bouncy and cracked-out and hilarious dance vid. But it also has something darker and deeper to say on the subject of "going crazy." I loved the creepy sex and other varied perversions, which were very in keeping with the vortex of Gaius. The guitar riff montage at the end is especially ripe with insane genius!

So, BSG is a show about crazy people having a lot of sex and beating each other up? Awesome cool!

I loved, loved, loved 'Wendy and Lisa', you made that just long enough for the joy of recognition. What a great vid - it so easily shows what it means to match the visual pace to the musical pace. I don't have the right words, I'm sure you know what I mean because you did it, but that the visuals harmonised with the music, they didn't just follow along like a man waving his finger in time with the music.

I downloaded this a while ago and refound it the other day. It's gorgeous and makes me want to beat Baltar up, which is just about how I always feel about him. On the other hand, it certainly reminds me what's wrong with everyone else around him, too.
